Life Story for Harry Evans Jr.

Harry Coleman Evans, Jr. was born in New York City to the late Harry Coleman Evans, Sr. and Gloria Evans on April 24th, 1950.

Tootie, as he was known then to distinguish him from his father, spent his formative years residing in New York City while his summers were spent at his Granddaddy''s house in Fayetteville, NC. These two drastically different environments shaped Harry Jr. into the man he was to become. The streets of Harlem provided him a tough skin, a crafty nature, handfuls of lifelong friends, exposed his gregarious nature and infinite affinity for new people and experiences. The farmland in Grays Creek instilled in him his love for nature, "green" thumb, discipline, and most importantly his everlasting, never wavering dedication, admiration, and love for family near and far.

Harry Jr. matriculated, first, at A&T State University, following in the footsteps of both his mother and father. While studying at A&T, Harry Jr. participated in civil rights protests and was admitted to the membership of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Inc.. He completed his studies, earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Fayetteville State University in 1978.

After graduating, he spent a short time teaching; following in the footsteps of countless family members. In 1979, Harry Jr. moved to Syracuse, NY after accepting a job at Miller Brewing Company, where he worked at and retired from after more than 20 years of service. It was in Syracuse where he met, married and had 3 sons Harry III, Derek, and Gregory with Sarah Evans (Glenn). Although the marriage eventually ended, becoming a father left Harry Jr. with a new set of priorities and he was forever changed.

Harry Jr. lived, worked, played and raised his family in the Syracuse area until 1997 when he moved to Walton, NY in pursuit of new career opportunities. While in Walton, Harry Jr. met and fell in love with Kathy Lewis, his life-partner. It was in Walton where he rediscovered his love of nature, animals and all things wild. After several years, Harry Jr. restarted his career at Miller Brewing Company, by relocating to Milwaukee, WI with Kathy and his stepchildren, Jason Campbell, Erika Campbell and Robby Rigas in 2000. While in Milwaukee, he and Kathy gave birth to his fourth son, D''Aunte.

Harry Jr. settled back in Fayetteville, NC in 2009, after his retirement. To keep busy, he worked for Jack Britt High School, tended the family garden, and spent time with family and friends, enjoying the place he had always loved so much until he was finally called home on September 6, 2013
