 Mr. Thomas William Fields was a proud Air Force Veteran. Mr. Fields 71, of Fayetteville, died Thursday, September 1, 2016. Funeral: Saturday, 11 a.m., Unity Chapel at Cliffdale. Visitation: Unity Chapel at Cliffdale, Saturday, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., with military honors at 12:45 p.m.

 

The Obituary

Thomas William Fields was born Sunday July 1st, 1945 in the Bronx, New York to Adrienne Louella Landrum (then Fields) and Thomas William Fields Sr. Thomas passed on from this life on Thursday September 1, 2016 at 6:40am.

Tom, also known as T.W., attended Boston’s English High School in Boston Massachusetts and graduated with his high school diploma in 1963. Tom shortly thereafter joined the United States Air Force, where he was a Supply Specialist and spent the majority of his military career in Guam.Tom grew up attending Charles Street A.M.E church in Roxbury, Massachusetts.  He was both a Cub Scout and Boy Scout, and enjoyed both running track and playing basketball.  As a lefty, Tom was a top-scoring bowler on several competitive bowling teams where he had received a number of trophies and won several tournaments. T.W. was also known to ‘cut a rug’ from time to time.On Saturday July 24, 1974 Thomas Fields married Esther Williams at Charles Street A.M.E. church, and raised three children; Lisa, Van and Donna Williams. Tom and Esther remained married for 38 years. They later moved from Massachusetts to Fayetteville, North Carolina. Esther passed on November 6, 2012.

Tom was a committed working man, holding a variety of culinary and bakery positions. Tom loved his family, and gave considerable time and effort to provide for them. Tom enjoyed laughter, joke telling, big luxury cars, and getting dressed up in his favorite outfits, to often include a matching hat, when he went out.

Preceding Tom’s death was his beloved wife Esther. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved children Lisa Thomas, Van Williams and Donna D. Brown; three brothers Carl Edward Landrum, Michael Kevin Landrum, and Gregory Allen Landrum. His grandchildren are Adell Anthony Thomas, Atiya Thomas, Adarias Lamar Martin, Trevon Jamaal Martin, Cheves Thomas, Ellison Brown, Alicia Williams, Tatianna Williams, Van Williams Jr., and Tanisha Williams. Thomas’ great grand-children are Adarias Lamar Martin Jr., Kayla Martin, and Jermaine Martin; along with nieces, nephews and a host of relatives. May he rest in peace!

Now unto Him that is able to keep us from falling, and to present us faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy; to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. (Jude 24-25)
